I named this piece, ‘A Walk in the Late Autumn Woods’ because it was inspired by exactly that.
An ode to November — which I used to see as a bland, gloomy month — but this year I noticed the range and depth of greens, yellows and browns outside. After the stunning reds and oranges faded, there remained a palette that was calm and subtle, perfect to remind us that it’s time to slow down, have a warm drink, pull on the wool socks.
The body of this MCM piece is done with Annie Sloan’s Amsterdam Green Chalk Paint™, then Black Wax and a bit of Clear. The drawers were stripped down and then Black Wax was used to add depth and help the wood grain pop.
Each drawer has a variation of colours — like leaves — using a mix of Chateau Grey, Versailles, Arles, Amsterdam Green and Coco. Then Dark Wax to soften.
This piece is available for purchase. Price is $525 + tax.
