Ever since hearing the rumours a few months ago, we’ve been eagerly awaiting these two products. And finally last week, they arrived at the shop.
At Malenka Originals, we’re particularly over-the-moon about the Black Wax. We’ve been playing around with making our own black wax for awhile, such as with the Gustavian Dream dresser. But after using Annie’s new Black Chalk Paint™ Wax, this is my new black.
Here’s a workshop board from this weekend where we tried it out for the first time…
This board started with French Linen, then was dry brushed with Duck Egg and Old Ochre. Then Clear Wax, followed by the Black Wax. Whereas the Dark Wax would have browned this out a lot, the Black Wax gave it a beautiful antiquing effect, while still keeping the coolness of the colours. We are in love!
Also new is the Annie Sloan White Chalk Paint™ Wax…
The White Wax is perfect for softening any Chalk Paint™ colour. It can also be used over raw wood for a limed effect.
Here’s a beautiful chair Annie Sloan did using Old Violet, Louis Blue then the White Wax.
We’re looking forward to playing around with the White Wax.
In the meantime, I’m currently working on a sweet Graphite antique dresser with copper highlights, and I’m using the Black Wax on top. For all you who have been asking for a black-black paint, this should make you happy!
If you’re in Ottawa, pop down to the store to see the new waxes for yourself. If you’re out of town, the waxes are now available on our online store.
